I’ve been in Porto and the region for the last few days… and I really enjoy… the mix between old and new, between ruined and restored, between water and hills is just amazing. The whole bohemian atmosphere around the two banks of the mighty Douro river would definitely touch you ! I promise to come back with more stories about this wonderful city, but until, then, I just want to show you some sights of Porto… just a sample !
Sights of Porto
The last days before departure, I trembled a bit… Lufthansa was on strike ! But, Thanks God, it was not on strike on the day I had my flight ! They striked the next day Let them strike until they will join Malev and Spanair, my return ticket is with TAP !
This was my hotel. Quite cool isn’t it ? So, I should thank to my sponsor, Paravion.ro who made this trip possible
I left my luggage at the hotel and I only stopped to the water… river Douro looks great behind a palm tree
Like in Lisbon, Porto has a vintage tram, too
One of the most popular things to do in Porto is to take a cruise to see the 6 spectacular bridges over Douro. It only costs 10 euro and the cruise takes 50 minutes
This is the main bridge – Luis I Bridge, the city landmark
and the favourite jumping point for the boys of Porto
but girls too
Old town is dramatically set on some spectacular hills
There are plenty of cruise boats of Douro !
Don’t miss a cellar tour of the main Porto wine producers ! (I missed it
For some excellent views, you can take the cable car
For other incredible views over river and bridge
What other things to see in Porto can you tick: Se, the Cathedral !
The old stock exchange
the dark and poor streets from downtown
But what is unmissable are: the Lello bookstore, one of the top 3 nicest bookstores of the world !
The azulejos (typical Portuguese tiles)
And the railway station with incredible tiles !
Another view over Douro
before joining the fellow bloggers on a new cruise to …
Pousada Porto, a former palace converted in a luxurious hotel
And by the way, let me not forget… I gave interviews to ther Porto media )) Here you can read it !
Note: my trip to Porto was sponsored by Paravion.ro who provided with the return flight and a great accomodation in the city center.
